The Greater Middlesex Conference 2014-2015 Athletic Director of the Year has been the AD at Spotswood High School since 2010. He started his career as a physical education teacher 36 years ago in Manchester Township before coming to Spotswood 25 years ago. He is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island. The GMC Athletic Director of the Year was the Head Football Coach, Head Girls Basketball Coach and the Head Baseball Coach, all at the same time at Spotswood High School for 10 straight years. He coached for 28 years and has coached in over 1,600 games in his career. He has been Division Coach of the Year numerous times and was the 1999 GMC Girls Basketball Coach of the Year.
Within the Greater Middlesex Conference, he is the boys and girls basketball tournament chairperson and coordinator for the GMC Sportsmanship Banquet and NFHS Coaching Principles Course that all new coaches must take. He has served on the GMC Executive Committee for several years and is currently the Treasurer of the Greater Middlesex Conference.
Carl Buffalino, President of the GMC, had this to say about Bill, “I approached him in November and asked if he would be willing to take over as Treasurer of the GMC. As you have heard, he has his hands full in the GMC with many other responsibilities, but without hesitation he agreed to be our Treasurer. This is a direct testament to the type of professional and of man he is. Bill goes above and beyond for the student athletes at Spotswood High School and for everyone within the GMC. All I have to do is make a phone call and he will thoroughly handle any challenge I may throw his way. He has been an incredible colleague to work with, and more importantly, a very good friend to me.”
We congratulate Bill Visokay on this honor!
