Led by Allison DeLuca and Christine Tack, Hunterdon Central dismantled reeling High Point, 3-0, last Saturday. DeLuca scored twice while Tack tacked on a goal and an assist, to propel their team to the quarterfinals against Lenape Valley at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Lenape Valley took care of Belvidere, 2-1, in the first round.
Pope John came away with a win and advanced, 2-1, over North Warren last weekend. Isabella Marra and Melissa Scarpone each scored to lead Pope John, which will take on Phillipsburg on Saturday. Phillipsburg moved on to the quarterfinals with a 1-0 victory over Wallkill Valley.
Both No. 2 seeds won big in the opening round, as Sparta beat Voorhees 5-2, and North Hunterdon rolled past Vernon, 4-0. Jamie Delaney scored twice and Taylor Nolan added a goal and two assists for Sparta, which will play No. 3 seed Hackettstown in the next round.
Kaitlyn Klepper and Jillian Kennedy both scored two goals for North Hunterdon, earning the team a matchup with third-seeded Newton Saturday.
Newton got a 2-1 win over Warren Hills in its tournament opener while Hackettstown defeated Kittatinny, 2-0.
