Monroe juniors Ashlyn Petersen and Grace Martini have played an integral part in the Falcon’s field hockey, basketball and softball teams’ success over the past 12 months. The spring of 2014 softball team went undefeated in the regular season, won the GMC Championship and advanced to the Sectional semifinal. This past fall, the field hockey team went undefeated in the regular season, won the GMC title and advanced to the Sectional semifinal. The current basketball team won their first 12 games of the season and were the #1 seed in Central Jersey Group 4. They lost in double OT in the league title game to three-time defending champion Piscataway HS and by just eight points in the state sectional final. Athletic Director Greg Beyer said, “I think this is pretty amazing and I do not think anything like this has ever been done before.” Another interesting twist to the tale is that Keith Hudak is a coach for all three teams as head for softball and field hockey and as an assistant for basketball.
