The birdie on the second hole, which is rated the No. 1 toughest hole at the Golf Course at Concordia, proved to be decisive.
When the match came down to a tiebreaker, which was the score on the second hole, McQuade’s birdie won her the tournament.
McQuade shot 43 last year to finish fifth, Carpenter shot 38 and was second once again.
The Wardlaw-Hartridge trio of Mia Sutton, Cecily D’Amore and Cathy Bi finished third, fourth and fifth respectively, shooting 40, 41 and 43.
The good news for Carpenter was that she led the defending champion Bears to the team crown.
