In the face of a losing streak spanning the length of any of their careers, the seniors on the St. Joseph volleyball team knew exactly what was on the line for the Metuchen program in the final of the 13th Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament.
After falling short in the title bout each of the last five years, Thomas Burrell,Michael Cintron, Tyler Pituk and Andrew Goyer left no doubt as St. Joseph, No. 2 in The Star-Ledger Top 20, took the initiative and ran away with it from the start en route to a 25-14, 25-20 victory over No. 7 Old Bridge at J.P. Stevens yesterday in Edison.
