AUGUSTA, Ga. – Coming off a three-game winning streak at the season opening UNCP Invitational, freshman shortstop Taylor Gerhart has been named the Peach Belt Conference’s Softball Freshman of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon. 

Gerhart, a Winfield Park, N.J. native, hit .417 and had an impressive start to her collegiate career by helping the Braves go 3-2 in their season-opening tournament at home last weekend. The freshman picked up five hits in twelve at bats and tacked on 6 RBI in her first five games.

Her five hits were highlighted by a two-run home run against Winston-Salem, the first of her collegiate career, while she logged a .833 slugging percentage and a .500 on base percentage for the weekend.
