Samantha Elbayar – Woodbridge: Sam is a four-year member of the Barrons girls volleyball program and has been a part of two White Division Championships. This year the team is 11-5 and Sam is playing a big part in that success with 57 kills, seven assists, 11 digs, 20 aces and seven blocks. Sam is ranked #16 in the senior class. She would like to attend University of California at Santa Barbara to study either marine biology or zoology. Sam is a member of many organizations at Woodbridge HS. She is a Senior Class Officer, Co-President of the Sign Language Club, National Honor Society and Heroes and Cool Kids.
Elijah Hosein – Woodbridge: Elijah, or Eli as he is known to coaches and teammates on the soccer field, has played on the varsity team at Woodbridge HS for two years. He has led a much-improved Barron squad to a 7-6-1 record so far this season, scoring six goals and tallying five assists. He scored the only two goals in a 2-0 win over Colonia on Senior Night. Eli plans on attending Berkeley College in Woodland Park, NJ to study interior design and plans to continue playing soccer in college, something he currently does year round as part of the Woodbridge Elite Travel Team.
Aaron Maskarenas – Edison Academy: Aaron is a senior midfielder for the Eagles soccer squad. He has tallied eight goals and dished out one assist in ten games for the team so far this season.
Nayara Figueroa – South River High School: Nayara is a four-year starter on the Rams girls soccer team. She is a three-time All Gold Division player and was named all GMC last year. The senior is also a Ram scholar-athlete. She currently has one goal on the year for the 8-3-1 Rams.
Matthew Pietryzk – South River High School: Matt is a senior striker for the Blue Division leading Rams. For the week, he had two goals helping the Rams to a 2-0 record. For the season, Matt has nine goals and two assists for the 9-2 Rams.
Matt Mischler – Monroe: A two-year captain for the Falcons boys’ soccer team, Matt has 18 goals and 10 assists so far this season.
Zoe Rosen – Monroe: Zoe is the captain of the Falcon field hockey team. She was the 2015 GMC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Year. The senior recorded her 500th career save on Friday against Metuchen. She has 36 career shutouts and plans to continue her playing career at Division I Fairfield University next fall.
