The Greater Middlesex Conference has recognized the need for and has organized a Student Athlete Advisory
Council (known as SAAC) which will promote leadership, in the classroom and on athletic fields, sportsmanship,
understanding the importance of health and safety for student-athletes, and to enhance positive relationships with
coaches, officials and other student-athletes. Each GMC School will have the ability to select one student athlete
to represent their school at SAAC meetings. The SAAC’s will be a student lead group under the supervision of
the GMC Executive Director that will meet several times throughout the year to discuss how they can be a part of
developing a positive sportsmanship atmosphere for officials and the entire athletic family and provide their ideas
on GMC matters. Their work will represent the perspective of all Greater Middlesex Conference student-athletes
by presenting their feedback to the GMC Executive Director which will thereby assist in decision making and
development of initiatives for future improvement that will benefit all GMC member schools.
ACTIVITIES:

● GMC Appreciation weeks for (COACHES OFFICIALS AND THE ENTIRE ATHLETIC FAMILY)
● Input on Tournament procedures
● Learn to be an effective positive leader
● Input into banquets and awards
● Listen to guest speakers
● Learn to assist in developing positive school spirit
● Learn the challenges of being a college student-athlete
● Understand the recruiting process
● Share ideas with their school administration
● Discuss current events in High School sports
